The business had its humble beginnings as Connerton & Anderson in 1904. Peter J. Connerton moved the business to its present location in 1907. Peter, along with James Daley, formed a partnership that resulted in the business becoming Daley-Connerton Memorial Co. in the 1960’s.
Our Story

The crane you see in the picture was constructed in the 1920’s to move the large blocks of granite brought in from Quincy, MA, Westerly, RI and Barree, VT. The blocks were then cut into workable size pieces to be used to create beautiful works of art.
This photo taken in 1924 shows Peter and his co-workers. This team of artists would set the standards for the quality of work this shop would be known for years to come.
A lot has changed in the 100 plus years we’ve been building monuments here at Daley-Connerton Memorial Co., but some things never will. The finest quality granite. Personal service. Old-time craftsmanship.
A worker cuts a block to be used in one of his creations. One can only imagine how physically demanding this job must have been without the aid of modern day tools.
Knowing all these stones were cut by hand, imagining the time and work involved in creating them. The farm in the wide open spaces that you see in the background no longer exists, as you will see if you come to visit our shop.
